QuietLink – Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
QuietLink ("the extension") is a browser extension that copies web links without tracking parameters. This policy covers every version of it, including any release for another browser. Short version: it doesn't collect any data.
What the extension does with data
- Links you choose to clean. When you click the QuietLink toolbar button, press its keyboard shortcut, or pick "Copy clean link" from the right-click menu, the extension reads that one address (the current tab's address, or the link you right-clicked), removes known tracking parameters on your device, and writes the result to your clipboard. That's all it does with it.
- No storage. QuietLink saves nothing: no history of links, no settings, no identifiers.
- No network. QuietLink never contacts any server. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no ads, no affiliate links and no remote code. Cleaning rules are built into the extension.
- No access to your browsing. QuietLink has no permission to read the pages you visit or your browsing history. Its "activeTab" permission only lets it see the address of the tab you're on, and only right after you click its button or press its shortcut.
Permissions
- activeTab – read the current tab's address when you click the toolbar button or press the shortcut.
- contextMenus – add "Copy clean link" to the right-click menu.
- clipboardWrite – put the cleaned link on your clipboard. The extension never reads your clipboard.
- offscreen (Microsoft Edge/Chromium only) – a hidden helper page that writes to the clipboard, because background workers can't. It is closed right after copying.
Sharing and selling
We don't collect data, so we don't sell, share or transfer any. Nothing is used for advertising, credit decisions or anything unrelated to cleaning the link you asked to copy.
Children
QuietLink collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Any future version that collects data would ask for your consent first.
